Privacy policy

Last updated 30 September 2026. Hushtalk is built so that we know as little about you as possible.

What we do not collect

• No account, name, email address or phone number.
• No contacts, location, photos or advertising ID.
• No recordings. Voice goes directly between the two phones where possible, or through our relay server, which forwards encrypted audio and cannot listen to or store it.
• No message history. Text messages pass through our server to the other person and are never written to disk.

What stays on your phone

Your nickname, avatar, interests, languages and optional gender are stored only on your device. They are sent to the person you are matched with (nickname, avatar, interests, language) and used for matching while you are connected. Gender is used only for matching and is never shown to other people.

What our server handles

• A random install ID. The app creates a random ID when it's installed. Our server only keeps a one-way scrambled version of it, and only when that ID has been banned for abuse. Reinstalling creates a new ID.
• Your IP address is used in memory to deliver the connection and limit abuse. It is not logged or stored.
• Reports. If several different people report the same ID, that scrambled ID is banned for a limited time. The report itself is kept only in memory for 24 hours.

Microphone

The app asks for microphone access only to make voice calls. The microphone is active only during a call, and you can mute at any time.

Age

Hushtalk is for people aged 18 and over.

Deleting your data

Use “Reset identity” in Settings or uninstall the app. Because we hold no account, there is nothing else to delete.
